NXT Heatwave 2023 took place on August 22, 2023, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. At the event, Ava Raine, The Rock’s daughter’s debut singles match took place. However, she was kidnapped during the event.
Ava is a member of the faction Schism consisting of her, Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, and Jagger Reid and they have been feuding with Diamond Mine whose members are Ivy Nile, Brutus Creed, and Julius Creed since May. With that, Raine was all set to face Ivy Nile on NXT Heatwave 2023. At the match, Ivy defeated Ava via submission.
The Creed Brothers revealed themselves as Schism masked men and along with Nile kidnapped Ava from backstage. The Creed Brothers namely Brutus Creed and Julius Creed were previously banned from NXT following their loss against Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid.
After ‘Diamond Mine’ kidnapped Ava, a Tag team Steel Cage match has been announced between the Creed Brothers and The Dyad for WWE NXT next week. However, there’s a catch, that if the Creed Brothers win, they will return to NXT. Following this announcement, the Creed Brothers and Nile released Ava.
Following her release, Ava took to her ‘X’ handle shared the news of her release, and thanked everyone for their concern. She also took a shot at Ivy Nile. She posted “Thanks for your concern everyone they finally let me out & Ivy’s face still looks even more busted from my kick”. As Ava confirms her release from Creed Brothers, it remains to be seen what the upcoming storyline holds.
Focusing on Ava Raine’s wrestling career
Simone Garcia Johnson aka Ava Raine is the first daughter of Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson. She is currently signed to WWE and is a fourth-generation wrestler. She is also one of the youngest WWE Superstars to have signed a contract with the promotion.
Ava made her first appearance on WWE NXT television in October 2022. She then joined the villainous faction Schism. Primarily her ring name was ‘Ava Raine’ which was later changed to ‘Ava’.
She made her in-ring debut at NXT Stand and Deliver PLE which took place on April 1, 2023. In her debut match, she along with Schism faced Chase University whose members are Thea Hail, Andre Chase, and Duke Hudson in a losing effort. Finally, she faced Ivy Nile in her first singles match at WWE NXT Heatwave 2023 again in a losing effort.
Now that The Creed Brothers and The Dyad will collide in a cage match, it is to be seen what role Ava plays during her match.
